Emerging Leaders Council: Recap of 2020, Our Thanks to Lindsay Welch & Welcoming a new President

Emerging Leaders Council: Recap of 2020, Our Thanks to Lindsay Welch & Welcoming a new President

It has been an incredible year of growth for the members of our Emerging Leaders Council (ELC) program. We are excited to announce and welcome in the new President of ELC, Nick Morin, and provide an overview of the year. We also want to thank Lindsay Welch, outgoing President of ELC, for all her contributions over the last 14 months.

This past year started out strong welcoming in new members to the group, matching them with C-Suite level mentors in the community and having key conversations on important local issues every month. They watched as the country encountered a pandemic which seemed to put the world on hold. ELC members were front and center hearing from speakers such as UArizona leaders on how they were handling testing, reopening and how to rethink student engagement. They discussed Diversity and Inclusion, what that means and how they could get involved to make a difference in the wide variety of fields they represent. After the pandemic had hit, the group covered topics such as: residential & commercial Real Estate challenges, how the Restaurant & Service industries were impacted and one-on-one conversations with political candidates to name a few.

It was no small feat to go virtual and keep the group engaged, but Lindsay & Nick did so with grace and by bringing in the best leaders possible to continue educating ELC members on the key issues in our community. We are grateful for the amazing job they have done in continuing the legacy of mentorship, professional development and growth.

Outgoing ELC President: Lindsay Welch

A loud resounding THANK YOU goes to Lindsay Welch as she passes off the baton for President of ELC after an incredible year. Lindsay is a dynamic leader who has brought the heart of Texas to Tucson! She went the extra mile during this difficult year to make sure ELC members had a meaningful experience with a great team of support.

Lindsay is the Vice President of Corporate Relations for Tech Parks Arizona. Leading their development efforts, not only does she amplify established national and international corporate relationships, but also expands Tech Parks Arizona’s positive-working network. Lindsay has impressive experience and a profound portfolio of volunteer positions across the region.

A few of Lindsay’s leadership positions and accomplishments include serving on the Board of Directors for the Tucson Metro Chamber of Commerce, on the Board of Directors for Greater Tucson Leadership, and being recognized as one of the 40 Under 40 of Tucson for her demonstration of leadership and endorsed problem-solving skills. We are thankful to have her here in our community.

New ELC President: Nick Morin

We are excited to welcome our new President to the helm: Nick Morin, CEO of the Growers Network.  Nick is an established powerhouse in the green community who is engaged in our community on many different fronts.

From launching a consulting firm in high school to the largest collegiate hackathon in the Southwest during college, Nick specializes in digital marketing and building communities from the ground up. After running his own company for four years, he helped launch InnovateUA and Hack Arizona, whilst a full-time student. These organizations allowed him to work alongside several diverse startups in fields such as robotics and virtual reality. Nick co-founded Growers Network as a Senior at the University of Arizona where he graduated in 2017 with a degree in Information Sciences and has been making big moves ever since!

Focused on making a difference in the Tucson-local community, Nick is a graduate of Greater Tucson Leadership (GTL), a mentor at Big Brothers Big Sisters, a member of El Rio Vecinos and advises for Startup Tucson, focusing on local economic empowerment. He is also the youngest elected member of the Breakfast Club and an active member of Tucson Young Professionals where he chairs the Growth Committee and serves as a member on their Board of Directors.

We are excited for our new leadership and to see what is in store for the upcoming year.

Stay tuned for our 2021 Emerging Leaders Council Cohort including new members to be announced next month.
