Bold Moves
Bold Moves
By Michael Guymon | President & CEO at Tucson Metro Chamber
Entrepreneurship, starting a business or shifting to new products and services is all about taking risks and making bold moves, and the most successful business owners have all taken a leap of faith at some point in their careers. To succeed in business, it’s often necessary to take calculated risks that involve stepping out of your comfort zone and embracing uncertainty. These transitions can be scary, but it can also be incredibly rewarding if you’re willing to put in the work and stay committed to your goals.
One of the big perks of my job is that I get to talk to business owners on a regular basis. I am continually inspired by the stories I hear about people taking considerable risks to pursue something even greater. One individual left a comfortable job at a large mining company here to start her own cooking class business and is succeeding. Another sold her business, enrolled in college and is working successfully in a new position using her newly developed skills. Our passion is what drives us and sometimes in life you need to let go of the good to get to the great.
When you take a leap of faith, you’re essentially betting on yourself and your ability to make things happen. You trust that your vision is worth pursuing and that you have what it takes to turn it into a reality. This kind of confidence can be infectious and inspire others to believe in your idea as well. As a business owner, inspiring others and convincing them to get on board with your vision is made so much easier if you let that passion shine through.
Whether you’re starting a new business, launching a new product, or entering a new market, taking a leap of faith can be the key to unlocking your full potential and achieving success beyond your wildest dreams. A good friend of mine loves to say, “be yourself but be your best self.” Getting to our “best self” will sometimes mean leaving our comfort zone behind in order to create or achieve something greater.
