Chamber Advocates for Stronger Investment in Career & Technical Education

The Tucson Metro Chamber joined a coalition of more than 500 organizations within the business and education communities urging the Senate to take swift, bipartisan action to reauthorize the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act. The Senate passed the bill by voice vote and the President quickly signed the first major education policy bill of his term.
The reauthorization of the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act provides important funding for programs focused on the academic, career, and technical skills development for high school and higher education students. Highlights of the reauthorization include new opportunities for partnerships between employers and educators to improve student preparation for in-demand jobs, measures that improve alignment with other workforce development programs, and increases program accountability.
