This year’s event is based on the Tucson Regional Town Hall which was held in Spring 2007. It is a collaboration between the Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, members of the public, and key business and educational organizations. The half day event begins with ”Community Conversation on K-12″ where full audience participation will forge solutions to the region’s educational challenges originally identified at the Tucson Regional Town Hall. Peter Smith, principal investigator for the University of Arizona’s Phoenix Mars Mission, will address the importance of teachers and the need for high quality education at this session. The “Conversation” will then be followed by a luncheon in which Governor Janet Napolitano will speak and address the State’s educational environment and new initiatives for improvement. In addition, an Education Expo will be held 10:30 am - 2:30 pm. Exhibitors will be educators or businesses involved in education efforts or promoting education.
This event will be held at the Tucson Convention Center located at 260 S. Church on October 1st. Cost to attend this event is $45/person. Reservations are required by September 26th. For more event information, please contact Arlene Chiovetti.
